Tropical Matcha Protein Smoothie

So far, our summer break has consisted of outdoor projects, family visits, and late-night Mario Kart races. I tend to stay busier when the temperature rises and smoothies become my go-to quick snack.

Fruits have a vibrancy that pairs well with summer, and because we live in Minnesota, I enjoy them far more in the warmer months. This is one of my all-time favorite smoothies. I make it in the afternoon for a light energy boost.

I don’t like complicated smoothies. To me, smoothies should be quick and easy, with real, simple ingredients. Even though this smoothie has seven ingredients, I buy mixed frozen fruit- so it feels more like five. No chopping needed.

It does not contain banana, because let’s face it, when you add a banana to any smoothie becomes a banana smoothie. I add vanilla protein powder, which adds a little sweetness and creaminess. Matcha powder for a boost and antioxidants.

It’s light and refreshing, perfect for a summer afternoon.

Tropical Matcha Protein Smoothie

  • 1 Cup Frozen Tropical Fruit

Pineapple, Mango, and Coconut - Target’s Pina Colada Fruit Blend

  • 1 Handful Spinach (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 tsp Matcha Tea Powder

  • 1 to 2 Scoops Plant-Based Vanilla Protein Powder

  • Liquid of choice to preferred consistency. I use a blend of oat milk and filtered water

    Optional: Ice Cubes

Throw all the ingredients into a blender, such as a NutriBullet, blend, and then enjoy.

I love a good smoothie recipe. Let me know your favorite summertime smoothie!
