Caffè Shakerato - Shaken Coffee with Ice
I usually enjoy a nice glass of wine after dinner, but lately I’ve cut back on alcohol and only have a glass on special occasions. This shakerato gives the feeling of a fancy cocktail, but without the alcohol. I got the recipe from Mimi Thorisson’s Old World Italian book, and it has been a great addition to my rotation of non-alcoholic drinks.
Shaking up this simple and beautiful drink may make you feel like you’re in Italy (even if you’ve never been.)
Shaken coffee with ice is a quick and easy drink that feels glamorous and contains no alcohol. It’s a perfect evening pick-me-up, especially if you’re entertaining friends. I prefer to have one on a date night with my husband. It’s bold and smooth and served in a chic martini glass.
Ingredients
6-10 ice cubes
1 double shot of espresso
2 tsp simple syrup or your favorite coffee syrup
Coffee beans for garnish (optional)
Directions
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the espresso and syrup and cover the shaker. Shake for 20-30 seconds until a foam forms.
Stain into a glass of your choice, chilled is best. I like a martini glass. Top with 3 coffee beans, if using. Enjoy immediately!
